This just got posted over at myhungergames.com. I’m pretty sure it’s her parade chariot outfit. That scene in the book was so powerful that it gave me chills and I just knew I’d end up falling for this costume. Sure enough, I think I have. The fabric is beautiful.

Depending on what CGI could be used for the “embers” look, since I hate working with lighting, I think it’ll work in this instead of her chariot uniform or interview dress from the first movie! MOAR COSTUMES!!

EDIT: Actually, seeing her with Peacekeepers in some of the pics, I think it’s a Victory dress, since that’s what they’re filming now. It just doesn’t seem colorful or warm enough for that, but it seems more likely.

I was gonna wait until I could get pics of the costume completed out in the woods, but I’m way too excited that after all the ‘yes, no, yes, no’ of whether or not it’ll happen, it’s gonna happen!!
So I still want to go over the seams in the shirt with a red to fake the red thread used, but I don’t have a good enough red thread at the moment. I also need to wash it like a bajillion times and whether it. Also, the wig needs to be rebraided.
But I still have more accessories to add to this anyway, but here’s the teaser/progress of it now!

This is what I’m doing tonight.

I feel awful that I haven’t posted this anywhere yet, because it’s absolutely beautiful! Made by Matt Haynes from a photo for me, it was originally done for something at D*C that I didn’t get to do unfortunately. But at least you can see it here.

PICTURE TIME!!!

So this past Friday, my awesome friend, Lola and I went out to the Walmart in Santa Clarita for the Hunger Games DVD/Blu Ray release. I don’t normally do those, but it was an excuse to be in costume and nothing else was going on that Friday night. We chose this location because Dayo Okeniyi (Thresh) was scheduled to be there and I figured if there’s a celebrity, then the store must be going all out with events. I didn’t want to get all dressed up and then just go buy the movie.

So we went. OMG! It was so much fun!! First of all, being the only two in costume, we were like freaking celebrities! Everyone, kids and adults alike, got so excited to see us and everyone was jumping out of line to get pictures with us. The people who were running the event even pulled us out of line to get nicer photos with us in front of banners and stuff and then wanted our pictures with the guys.

Yup, plural. As you can see, Jack Quaid (Marvel) surprised us all and showed up, too! I seriously can’t describe how amazing it was to meet them. Lola and I didn’t get a chance to act all nerdy and fangirl because they beat us to the punch! They totally flipped out over our costumes! Seeing Lola’s dress first, Jack leans over to Dayo and goes “Something amazing is happening right now.”

Dayo was geeking out over my costume so much. He said the belt was perfect, everything was legit, and then he flipped over my boots. He said no one ever gets the boots right and he’s bummed that he didn’t get to keep them from the set. They were joking around with us, Jack and Lola talking about taking awkward prom photos and the both of them looking away from the pictures to geek out again when I said that Lola and I are archers. They’re total nerds! They’re the kind of guys I’d like to just hang out with.

So we took our pictures and then got back in line for autographs. It was amusing when we came back around again. I didn’t have anything for them to sign since I’m not so much into autographs and never think about that stuff. So I had them sign the face of my bow! (That’s right, Marvel signed Katniss’s bow).

And then, we just wandered around in Walmart in costume. I had no idea the night would go over that well!
